A New Chapter for Emmaus: BPES Surgery in Spain

It’s time for Emmaus long-anticipated “BPES” surgery.

One of our sending churches has covered nearly all our travel/BnB expenses to Malaga, Spain, and Sarah’s parents are also supporting us as we’ve come to the world’s foremost surgeon for an extraordinarily rare procedure.

After surgery, Emmaus will be able to open his eyes beyond the current ≈40% and ≈30% respectively. This operation will also give him beautiful eyes like his Mommy who was also born with BPES and underwent a similar procedure around Emmaus’ age.

After the operation our little boy will wear stitches in the months following, and it will be a good while before he fully adjusts into his new crystal-blues. It will take approximately one year before everything is fully settled.

I understand we’re going to grieve the loss of the eyes we’ve come to know and love. But I also hear down the line it’ll be hard to imagine our Emmaus prior to the surgery.

My dear friend Pete imparted a word from the Spirit: “All Encapsulating Peace.” As a biblical word that literally means “completeness/wholeness” and “everything in its right place” I thought that word was right on.

Prayers appreciated on July 31 at 3:30PM (Spanish Time), 2:30PM (British Time), 6:30AM (Pacific Standard Time).

Love our Emmaus
